Looking glass

as in through the!!!!


I just had a day with a couple interesting moments where my life was defined ...for the moment anyway:)

First, before I went grocery shopping today I had a yogurt because I was a bit hungry and shopping on a hungry tummy is a very baaaad idea you know...leads to all sorts of delicious foods but that is kind of at odds with my plan of fitting into my clothes. So I'm in my kitchen eating my yogurt and suddenly I look down at myself and then realize...I am the yogurt commercial!!!! Whaaaaat...you may say, and I would explain thus....I am a mid-thirties mom who was casually leaning against the counter in her kitchen with her hair swept up in a little flip-twisty thing wearing a fitted t-shirt, exercise pants and tennies.....eating a yogurt.....I am the commercial!!!! Egads...when did I become the target audience?

Then...and I literally just had this epiphany...I am one of the old guard....so to speak! My eldest daughter is a 5th grader (ack, gasp, cough) and therefore I have been doing many of these school related things sometimes the longest! As I was sending an email I realized that it was like other emails I had received years ago when the kids were first in school and I always thought wow these women know so much and have it all figured out and I have now realized the truth....nu uh....they just had more experience wingin' it :P  I kid...some....I do know more about how some of the things work cause I have done them several times and other things cause I raise my hand at the most inopportune times, like when someone is asking for volunteers, but I didn't always and it was really strange to suddenly see that...in print too!

And I guess it didn't help with the whole 5th grade/future 6th grade parent meeting last night......really not ready yet! Of course....that does mean I will go back to the know nothing state of bliss as she enters the middle school jungle....maybe this time around I will just remember to keep my hand down......yeah...probably not-lol
