Healthcare

Ok...I don't go political here for many reasons but mainly because politics is not what I care to get into in my blog. I would be happy to discuss with anyone in private thoughts about political ideologies, parties, the government and such, but not here. I will however, talk healthcare.

Let me preface by saying I did not always feel completely this way...but my life has changed since this idea first came into 'official' public discussion. Here is the bottom line. I am a 37 year old who has had breast cancer. That is a pre-existing condition. I plan on continuing to beat it and live well into my 80s or even 90s. At this point in time as long as Ed keeps his current job I am good. If Ed ever loses that job or would even want to find another at any point in time I am screwed. They will not cover me for health insurance under the current laws. We could effectively lose everything we have if I did get sick again just trying to cover the bills, let alone deal with any of the emotional realities that me being sick again would mean. And lets say I don't get sick again, awesome....but I still have to go get check-ups, and x-rays and blood draws and medicine.....it's not cheap now....basically, we are very glad that Ed likes his job and that they are a good employer.

Now...the bills for healthcare are not perfect by any means. There are definite flaws, but they are being exacerbated by both sides. However, I would be safe. I would never have to worry....about that anyway. Just a thought as you go about your day....the scope is broad reaching and the effects could be devastating in this upcoming year so don't be hasty in your choices folks...think big picture and how they will affect everyone, not just yourself in the long run.

Maybe the mists will finally lift around here today.

Blog ya later-
K
