I just realized I had not blogged yesterday. I really am not so good at keeping up with this! However, nothing much really happened yesterday anyway! Except....well I went to the movies with two of my bestest friends and it was awesome! The movie was good too:) no really, it was. But, the three of us had the entire theater to ourselves! It was like being at home but with the biggest screen ever..but no pause button, but being able to really laugh and then comment as we like to do was really nice.
And then, just like today, most of my focus has been on the two events that are hurtling toward me at incredible speed! I actually wish now I could just be one of the other moms at times like these. Not because of the work or time..but because I want to be able to just sit back and watch my daughter and every one elses sometimes and not have to be focused on the behind the scenes too. I suppose I need to just stop raising my hand...but...if no one else will...well..I don't want my girls to miss out either...oh well!
Anyway..tomorrow is the big day for the Junior troop and the culmination of everything they have worked on all year, it should be a blast! I have a short list of errands to do in the am to get the rest of the supplies and then home to finish gathering and then up to school to get it together. Then the fair and then home and dinner. And then....shopping for the weekend GS camping trip-yay...sorta...I know it will be fun and great and all, but it is a lot of work for me and I am not so sure about the kitchens again!
So..I will now bid you all adeiu as I head off to bed and some shut eye before the zaniness:)

Monday, Monday
now hum along with me.....ok, only if you wanted to. But everytime I start off a sentence with Monday I launch into that! I do that with other phrases too, but only in my head or on paper so you won't ever catch me breaking into The Mamas & The Papas live!
Anyway, it was a typical Monday...just came crashing in with all of the usual urgency of the start of a week of zany, no biggie! I spent most of the day doing various errands to wrap up paperwork on things and to get items for Scouts and answering emails. It seems like every time I answered one another popped up...and I don't even work!(for pay)
Tomorrow will be slightly less zany as I will be spending some quality time with some friends before we go shopping....at Sams...we're so chic!
Anyhoo...mostly just a normal rainy, dreary Monday.
Hope tomorrow is brighter:)

PS...was it just me or did anyone else keep having flashes of "Blue Lagoon" when looking at the silver medalist guy in the pairs ice dancing?!?!?!? Just sayin' :)

Weekend Fun
Well, this weekend was fun...not quite as fun as last weekend, but fun in the sense that we got some things accomplished, like rearranging the beds in two of the rooms!!! Which although it sounds like a small task, involved completely moving every piece of furniture in our bedroom and rearranging it and then flipping some mattresses including the one for Belle's loft so she won't roll out!
It did result in wonderful sleeping areas for everyone in the house now, but it was tiring work! That and something I ate or something else did not agree with me last night and so I hit the sack early.
Today I woke up much better and did some laundry and that was about it...as far as physical things go anyway. I spent quite a lot of time organizing multiple events and I still don't feel ready...and yet, ready or not here they come! Oh and I crockpotted again! It was fab. We did a complete breakfast for dinner with a variation of the breakfast casserole I did before and then the girls and I made monkey bread for dessert...and breakfast tomorrow....and snack probably too:) And it was soooooo good. I can't actually remember the last time I had monkey bread, it is just a hazy vision of me in the warm kitchen in the house I grew up in loving every bite...just like the girls did tonight. Ahhhh, the simple pleasures in life like monkey bread:)
Anyhoo...tomorrow begins a crazy week for me and I am already letting you know I will not be blogging next Sat for sure and possibly Fri, as I will be at a GS camp and unless a certain friend or two let me borrow their iphones, I won't be anywhere near a wifi connection to get online! But before that I have to get through a week of getting ready for an event on Thursday and the weekend trip. As long as I remember to breathe I should be fine:)
Hope you all had a nice weekend and...rain atop frozen ground with possible freezing stuff later is no fun at all and it's not even lousy Smarch weather yet!?!?!?!

Ho Hum
Same ol', same ol'. I feel like I did a ton today and yet....because it was all just things that needed to be done and weren't any above and beyond things...it doesn't actually feel like I got anything done!
Don't get me wrong, I did laundry(loads and loads), dishes, grocery shopping, GS shopping, helped at school and managed to get some organizing done for some events I have coming up and yet...... I don't know. Maybe its because it often seems like I am that person on the talent shows who spins the plates and just when she gets all of them spinning, she has to run back to the beginning and give them all a whirl again or they will fall. Yep, that about sums up how I feel about things today, running in endless circles trying to keep everything up in the air and spinning. That and considering the fact that I'm incredibly accident prone, it is probably not a good idea to have me trying to spin plates~sheesh! ;)
Anyway, since it was apparently a fairly productive day afterall, I am going to watch a bit more Olympics and then head to bed.
Hope your weeks went well.

What a week!
I can't believe it has been a week since I last blogged!!!! And what a week it has been, whew!
I shall start with last Thursday. I had a full day of errands and meetings and then a Junior GS meeting, which went very well~I think the girls are mostly prepared for WTD and it will be wonderful! Unfortunately though, I sliced my hand as I was unloading posterboard from the car. I know...sounds like nothing right? Not if you are accident prone little ol' me!!!! It happen to be a lovely crescent shaped cut that although it was technically a paper cut sliced a good section of the top several layers in quite a bit and for about two inches right at the junction of my thumb pad and my wrist.(okay...I just have to inject here that I am actually a very lame person about my own blood leaving my body...I managed to get through all of the chemo related stuff because, let's face it, I had too, but...I have been known to pass out when I cut myself and start bleeding and I had to turn away and watch some Olympics~Go USA~ to be able to finish typing that cause I was reliving it!!! K=lame !) Anyhoo, I had a leader meeting that went late too and by the time I got home I couldn't use my hand to type it hurt so bad!
Then Friday we drove to just outside of Nashville on a journey to the beaches in Alabama where my parents are right now. We spent the night and then got up and drove down to the beach arriving in plenty of time for the evening Mardi Gras parade! I have to say..it was the first I have ever been to! And it was quite a crowd...of snowbirds! Who were incredibly nice and gave the girls tons of beads and moonpies and other souvenirs that they loved! I even grabbed a few beads and fortunately had to resort to nothing but standing there draped in beach towels to stay warm actually to get them! What a parade! We then went and had a wonderful dinner at which I ate fresh seafood ~ yum!!!!
Sunday we spent eating more seafood-yum, yum:) taking a drive to the fort and playing in the indoor heated pool with the girls. They went shelling for a while on the beach with Papa but it was pretty brisk at 45 and very windy(20 mph) so it was mostly a day spent inside doing fun things. Then Ed and I went to Florida for an amazing crab dinner for Valentine's Day and it was fabulous. The Crab Trap ~YUM!!!!! Then we just came back and watched Olympics before crashing from all the swimming and wonderful food!
Monday the girls and Papa did some more shelling and then we all did some shopping! Beach wear is essential in the Lou in Feb., don't ya know? After that we did some more swimming-it truly was a wonderful pool..and the three different temperature hot tubs weren't bad either! And then we headed to the famous Lulu's for some more excellent seafood and then back for cards and Olympics.
Tuesday we got up and drove home...all day. But hey...we got to drive through a parade route...right ahead of the parade..it was fun, we considered throwing the beads we had collected but the girls probably wouldn't have agreed to part with theirs so we just drove on.
Thirteen+ long, LONG, hours later, we pulled into our driveway and carried/walked the girls inside and to bed and then brought everything inside and dumped it on the living room floor. However, I hurt my back on the drive down and although it got better..the loooooong drive home knocked it right back out of snyc and I spent most of Wed. trying not to move and then taking medicine and going to bed very early.
And now we are here at today where the medicine definitinely helped overnight...as did my own bed:) I have done some much needed errands and had lunch with a good friend and then helped at school and I did stuff around the house too...I think I am a-ok!
Soooo...that's what's been happening and sorry about missing a week....life happens...to me it seems to happen every day!!! ;) :P
I hope you all had a nice past week.

What Brave...
girls I have!
They both tried out for the emcee spots for the annual school variety show. The persons in charge said they were only going to pick 8 boys and 8 girls and there were a lot that showed up. A. LOT. So it will be interesting:)
They are both very excited and really want to do this and I suppose if they are willling to commit to it then it is fine. Afterall...it only requires me to pick them up late one day from school a week so they can practice(not seeing a downside to more mommy time) and to take them to the rehearsals and show which I would have to go to anyway......hmmm.....thinking the more mommy time thing is gonna work me! Although..I will add in at this point that my more mommy time today was spent calling about taxes for AARP...soooo maybe they will have the practices on another day! One can hope anyway;)
We, I did not crockpot today however....we had too many leftovers! But I am planning on it for tomorrow because I have a very hectic day and no desire to come home and cook between things! We shall see how it goes and then I shall report!
Hope everyone is enjoying the still pristine whiteness of the snow:) Really...isn't it nice? I mean, if you have to have cold weather, isn't it better to have pretty white snow than dismal brown or yellow grass and stuff? Well I prefer it that way, just looks prettier:)

Snow Day
Yes that about sums it up! Actually it was not too bad. Belle I'm sorry, Bella, was able to go sledding for a while with her bff, the bff's siblings and brave bff's mom:) While Lexi stayed at home and did some cleaning and lesson planning. Ummm, yep, ya read that right...cleaning!!!! She actually washed and dried and put away dishes without prompting!!!! It was very nice to come upstairs and have that done.
And then she sat and did some lesson planning. (I know you were really waiting on that one! ) I do mean that she literally made lesson plans for her and Bella to have an abbreviated day of school with all subjects and extras too! It was pretty amazing too. They had to write an essay on a story they read (well 5 sentences) and then critique' each other's essays.....yes....my children are nerds just like their parents! It was very well prepared and quite scary frankly...she knows waaaaay too much for an almost 11 year old! The best part is they were so engrossed in their "play" that when I said we should go outside at 3 while it was light, they wanted to keep playing and said no!!!!
Then we had a wonderful hot supper to top off the chilly day out...another crock pot pork roast...yum...I think I am a convert. It is so easy to put everything in and then just push a button and walk away....and then come back 4, 6, 8, or 10 hours later to a wonderful main dish or meal...YUM!
Tomorrow I will hopefully get all of the errands done I need to do and then get everything tax wise done too. Not our taxes..did those today actually, not the most favorite of tasks but fortunately not the worst task either so....one word sums it up...done:) I meant helping out with an AARP tax scheduling line. I have volunteered to go in and return calls once a week. It's not a hard job just takes time.
And..I'm thinking of "crocking" again....hmmmm...what sounds good?!?!?!?

Let me explain...
No, there is too much, let me sum up... :)
Trivia night was a blast! We did not win. We will be back next year. 'nuff said.
Saturday I had a bug and spent the day in bed. And while I did enjoy myself Friday evening, it was not due to that. There is still something going around school and our house of the achy sort and so it was not a good day for me.
Sunday I felt much better and we spent the Super Bowl with some friends enjoying wonderful company and food! But I was tired by the time we got home and then Lexi didn't feel well. I think that has something to do with the fact that we are on a yo-yo barometer with the weather and it is wreaking havoc with her sinuses.
And don't forget the fact that we got almost no snow on Friday, which was good for trivia, bad for snow-lovers (like me) and the fact that it is actually snowing outside right now!!!!! But prolly not going to get too bad, altho that means I will have some peace and quiet maybe and the girls can still come home and play later...then again, they forecast high winds once the snow is done so we'll see.....
So now I will go tuck in the kiddos and watch out the window as the pretty white stuff piles up around the house and hope that it is higher than my thumb!
Hope you had a great weekend.

Trivia
Ahhh...a wonderful past time...spouting useless tidbits of knowledge that you sometimes forgot you even had stored in your brain! Tomorrow evening is the girls' school's annual trivia night and I'm pretty excited. Ok, REALLY excited. Yes, I am a nerd. Yes, I do plan on winning. We won two years ago, last year we lost in the final round (don't even get me started~lol) and this year...well...let's just say....we plan to win. Seriously.
I have friends who just shake their heads and laugh at me...and that's ok....they just don't understand the infinite glory that comes from knowing that your table possessed more inane pieces of obscurity than the rest of the parents there....wait a minute......I'm beginning to have second thoughts on this quest.....nah, I still wanna win :D
Actually it is a really good time and we do have a really good table with lots of good food. Plus....it’s a night out with other adults and we all know how nice those are :) Of course, now that I have said all that, who knows what will actually happen since they are predicting a minor snow event tomorrow. And interestingly enough though there has been a snow event right around trivia night each of the past two years also...hmmmmm..wonder if there is a pattern...I may have to go chart it...see, total nerd!
So I am conflicted...do I do my snow dancing or do I wait and see so that we can get our trivia on?!?!?!?
Eh....I think I'll wait it out, I don't really believe them around here most of the time anyway with the weather ya know ;P
Have a good one and stay safe and warm-

A Mishmashed Day
So I've had multiple thoughts today of what I wanted to write about...to the extent of even partially composing several of them in my head but nothing has really pushed me into a final stance of that's the one for today...so here I am at 10:30 still pondering........
I could talk about the fact that I have just realized that I have several jobs in fact. All but one part time and all unpaid, but they are truly jobs that eat up my time, energy and spirit none the less. Or perhaps about the news that 3 or 4 sets of my oldest's friends have now started 'going out' with each other has made me feel......well...a whole range of emotions that I can't even comprehend yet, let alone describe! How about my utter failure again at a swimsuit top?!?!?!? And of course there is always the good old standby of oh yeah guess what...I had cancer and have foobs!!!!
It's been a busy day around here :) After spending the second hour of my day responding to emails, the first was spent getting everyone up and fed and out the door, and then having several other things to take care for my other roles made me realize that it really is a job outside of being a mom to be a volunteer and leader and coach and rabble rouser, etc. Then I spent a wonderful mid-day with an old friend and her youngest that I had never met and it was so sweet to see and yet...so nice not to have to deal with anymore either...sigh...
Which brings me to issue number two! Yes...there is 'coupling' of some of the kids..and just so you fellow parents know, I don't know who, she wouldn't say. But it is just the variety of...girl likes boy, boy likes girl, boy asks girl to "go out", girl says yes, they get embarrassed around each other for the rest of the year. No actual contact as far as I could glean from her anyway. Just a reminder that she was continuing in her rocket like ascent into adolescence and I don't like it one bit!
Onto swimwear...cause Puxnatawney Phil does not know what he's talking about, six more weeks of winter...spring is March 20th, that's just about..6 ....weeks............away...heeeeeeey....wait a second....
Anyway, the tops I thought would fit...did not. There was barely enough material to cover my pinky let alone a foob....ok...there was a bit more than that...but not much! Sooo, the hunt for swimwear 2010 continues unfortunately, luckily everyone is putting stuff out now and...and this is key...I am willing to go look at myself in a mirror in a swimsuit right now so it might actually work!
Last but not least.....I think I have kind of gotten to the point where I have not forgotten per se but....I am not always aware...that's not quite it....just, it isn't what defines me anymore, the cancer I mean, so while I can never forget sometimes I don't remember, and yes I know that is absurd but…go with me, I haven't ever had to do this before:) Besides ...when I am in the zone of just being me again I don't really think about it anymore. But...sometimes it just comes over me....and I suddenly feel it wash over me all over again and I wonder if this will ever go away?
In any case, that's it for today. Hope you all had a good one.

End of an Era
Today was a long day. It started at the dentist and ended with scouts. At least the school day did anyway. Obviously my day will not be done until after I finish this:)
So I will work backwards. I had a small group for Brownies and we got a lot accomplished and I hope they had fun. Sometimes it’s hard to tell. I feel like I am rushing them to get through things so that we can do the four required projects for any given badge and all they want is to sit and color and talk! Now I know it’s not a social club, nor do I want to facilitate that, but I wish there was more of a balance. Then again I could be totally wrong and they could love it and this could all just be my perception...
So before that, Belle and I went to the dentist. I had a regular cleaning and she had a tooth pulled. Now, I have TMJ and cleanings are never fun but I was prepared and premedicated :) Of course I will say I still kind of feel it in my jaw, but it’s not bad :) Belle was a brave little soldier though. She had an upper side baby tooth pulled so as to allow the teeth coming in more room. She'll have to have many more pulled, just like Lexi will and Ed and I did...but not yet fortunately. The tooth was not at all loose but had to go and so it had quite a root and frankly she had a huge gaping hole!!!! That took FOREVER to seal. Not that I expected it right away but she ended up having to wait for the bleeding to stop until almost 1pm to be able to eat!
Now we get to the main idea, or at least what the title was referring to....
All things....'make believe'.
I know you know what I'm talking about ;) She is on the verge of flipping that switch to being a non-believer and in on the secret and I'm not ready yet! I will say that she is trying hard to prolong her naivety as she wrote a full page note to the tooth fairy tonight asking questions and explaining why she should get $2 instead of just one, since it got pulled and all:) But soon, very soon it will happen and then the last vestige of my sweet baby Belle will be gone.....
Sigh...breathing....k.....
I'm not ready for the end of that era....isn't it enough to end the era of my oldest being not old?!?!?!?
Ugh...I don't like this whole time thing anymore...can't we pause for a minute or two?
Oh, alright....blog ya later-

To Tweet or not to Tweet, that is the question...ok, not really but it is a question anyway:P I do have a twitter account and I have for over a year now. I got it when I got on FB and here and kind of did my internet "blitzkrieg of account creation" during chemo. I believe I have tweeted about 20 times in that period. Mostly 'cause...well there are actually several reasons;
~I don't do that much! At least not that I need to be tweeting about, I mean really, I have enough trouble keeping up with a once a day posting here!!!!
~You only get 140 spaces....not words, not characters, SPACES!!!!! That is just too succinct for me! Ok, I just typed(actually cut and pasted) those two sentences in and I would still have 40 spaces left....maybe I just take too many sentences to explain things, hmmmm, wonder if I should work on that?!?!?!
~I think that constantly saying what you are doing to your circle of friends requires something I just don't have, a circle of friends who tweet!
Here's the strange thing...I have followers! Of course there are the spam accounts who apparently found me even though I don't tweet! LOL But there are other random people who are following me too! It's sort of strange....
Other than that, a fairly normal start to the week. Everyone is on the mend-yay! And now I will prepare for Brownies tomorrow...well not now, now I'm going to bed:) but that is my task tomorrow am first thing, although I am adding that the lesson is planned(by the girls themselves even!!!!) I just have to gather all the supplies!
Anyhoo, hope your weeks started off as nice.
